Yeah, we know, we hate 2020!
If I have a nickel for every time someone said “2020 is the worst year ever” or “2020 sucks” or any of the other hundred words and sentences on how they hated the year of 2020, I would be rich by now!
But I get it! It’s fair to say that 2020 has been arguably the most challenging year for many of us. There’s a lot of stuff that has happened around the world. People had to cancel their plans on almost everything and spend their year mostly inside their house. And without realizing, we only have 1.5 months left until the end of the year.
In this time, how many of you gained a little bit of weight because of the lockdown? You didn’t move enough every day, or you couldn’t separate work and life due to working from home.
If you felt sorry for yourself and said, “Yeah, I’m just gonna survive this year”, don’t do that! This is a perfect time to realign yourself with the goals that you set at the beginning of 2020 and finish the year strong. There’s no reason for you to not conquer 2020!
To help their employees to stay focused on their health goal, Merkle launched #merklemoves. This is a new program that was designed to encourage us to get active and achieve our health goals by 7th November.
For all of us here at Merkle APAC (Happy Marketer, DWA, and Gyro), this was an opportunity for team bonding. Hence, we came up with the initiative to set one goal as a team and conquer this challenge together. We named this challenge #Conquer2020.
So how did it work?
From 28 September to 7 November, we wanted to cover 2020 kms as a goal. Participants could walk, run, cycle – essentially moving themselves. We managed to get 24 volunteers across 3 brands in Singapore, India and Philippines. To get them more motivated, we gave everyone jerseys and prizes for the top 3 contributors.
In the end, we did not just accomplishing the goal, but we smashed it! As we clocked 2,663.14 km, we are getting healthier, more positive and ready to take control of the rest of 2020!
